Will the DREAM Act pass?

According to the New American, Harry Reid, Senator Majority Leader, is intending to attach the DREAM Act to a defense bill. At the Congressional Hispanic Caucus gala this evening, President Obama stated that he “vows to fight” for the amendment, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Reid is optimistic. Obama is optimistic. I am cautiously optimistic. It will be an amazing piece of legislation if it passes and one of the biggest changes in the country’s immigration reform since I was born – except, maybe, for the building of the wall along the U.S./Mexico border.

But … the DREAM Act has a history, and it certainly won’t pass without a lot of work and a fight.

The bill will be debated next week.
