New York Times, Feb. 9, 2011:  Counting by Race Can Throw Off Some Numbers

  • The Department of Education and other organizations are having difficulty counting students by race, because more and more frequently people fall under multiple ‘race categories.’ One student interviewed in the story is Asian, Hispanic, Native American and White, but the DOE counts her as Hispanic.
